Freedom: Part 2 — Economic Freedom

The next meeting is on Monday, 14 January 2019 at 7pm. Please see the About page for more details.

The topic is the concept of freedom, which we will address from many perspectives from December to February. This week’s discussion will centre on economic freedom.

The optional reading for this session will be a dozen pages of F. A. Hayek (PDF), as well as the first hour of Adam Curtis’ 2007 documentary The Trap (YouTube). Don’t let yourself be dissuaded from attending if you don’t have time to look at these.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Optional Assignments

Hayek, F.A., “The Use of Knowledge in Society.” The American Economic Review XXXV (1945): 519–530.

Curtis, Adam. “Part 1. ‘F**k You Buddy.'” The Trap: What Happened to Our Dreams of Freedom. YouTube. London: BBC, 2007.
